FACULTY OF CIVIL ENGINEERING

  The Faculty of Civil Engineering was established in 2011, consisting of two departments: The Civil Engineering Department, and the Mechanics and Materials Department. The Faculty is responsible for training and researching in the areas of Civil Engineering (such as Structural designs, Construction Engineering & Management, etc.) and Mechanics & Materials, specifically with Civil Engineering technology.   
Currently, the Faculty has over 650 students and 20 experienced staffs, of which 60% have completed graduate education with 1 Associate Professor and 3 PhDs. The Faculty has three laboratories: a Civil Engineering Lab and two Mechanics and Materials Lab. All the labs are equipped with the latest technology that satisfies the research and academic demands of lecturers and students. Students of the faculty have the opportunity for hands on experience in a professional working environment, which provides them with a better chance to find quality employment after graduation.

 

  DEPARTMENTS

  Department of Civil Engineering

The Department of Civil Engineering was established in 2007 under the Faculty of Mechanics with nine lecturers teaching the  Civil Engineering undergraduate program. The program provides skills, knowledge, and research experience that prepare graduates for the complex infrastructure challenges that our society faces. We focus on building structures, mechanics and materials and geology engineering. The Civil Engineering Program at the Nha Trang University can provide students with outstanding preparation for a career in government service, consulting, construction, or academia. 
 

  Department of Mechanics & Materials

The Department of Mechanics & Materials has ten faculty members including an associate professor, three PhDs, five MScs, and one engineer. The mission of the department is to provide a comprehensive research and educational platform for theoretical, computational and experimental studies in the field of mechanics and materials. Students will apply the physical laws that govern forces, motion, energy, and the deformation of materials under pressure as well as other engineering problems. 

 
In the last five years, the Department has carried out numerous projects at ministry and university levels, including pilot manufacturing and technology transfer. Every year, the faculty in the Department of Mechanics of Materials publishes more than five articles in professional journals and conferences.

  Student research:

Undergraduates in the Civil Engineering Program have plenty of opportunities to take part in research with faculty as well as conduct research on their own. Students work in a variety of research facilities including faculty research laboratories, and even outdoors.
