The next webinar from the Center for Sustainable Tourism will be Tuesday, November 27th at 11 am EST. This free webinar will discuss energy efficiency in collegiate sports facilities and venues. During the webinar, guest experts will discuss the current state of sustainability in collegiate sports, barriers to improving sustainability, and strategies you can use to help green your sports facilities.
The webinar will feature two guest experts:
•Dr. Jonathan Casper, Associate Professor of Parks, Recreation, and Tourism Management at North Carolina State University
Dr. Casper's research interests focus on the role of sport and recreation related to active living and quality of life. Specifically, he binds psychological theory to inform marketing and promotional efforts. Dr. Casper also has a research line related to sport and the environment. He has made numerous international presentations including Active Living Research, the North American Society for Sport Management, Sport Marketing Association, and National Park and Recreation Association. Dr. Casper has published in top refereed journals including The American Journal of Health Promotion, Journal of Sport Management, Sport Management Review, European Sport Management Quarterly, Journal of Physical Activity and Health, Journal of Park and Recreation Administration, and Leisure Sciences.
•Mr. Dave Newport, Director of the Environmental Center at the University of Colorado at Boulder
In Mr. Newport has written, published, and presented widely on the topics of sustainability reporting, campus greening, and the practices and principles of sustainability and leadership. Mr. Newport has served on dozens of related boards and committees including the US Environmental Protenction Agency Higher Education Sector Performance Monitoring Task Force (current) and ULSF-UNEP-GRI Sustainability Indicators Working Group.
